Help diagnosing Avisynth+ install problems?

What tools exist to help diagnose Avisynth errors? The standard ver2.6 works fine with AvsPmod and Virtualdub, but when I try the latest release of Avisynth+ I get an error that says “the specified module coild not be found. Loading avisynth.dll failed. Make sure that AviSynth is installed. Alternately, specify now its directory” However, even when I point it to the avisynth.dll location I still get the error.

Looking thru Doom9 led me to Avisynth Info Tool here: https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=176079

However, Windows Defender flags it as a trojan. I registerd there to ask, but there's a waiting period before I can post.

Never mind, I figured it out. Apparently I didn't have all the required C++ and .Net framework flavors installed. So now I have C++ 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017, .Net 3.5 and 4.7. I have no idea which ones were not installed properly, I just reinstalled them all and now AvisynthPlus-MT-r2772 and AvsPmod run without errors.

This is a common issue with plugins as well, they were compiled at various points in time using various versions of the C++ libraries. Usually avisynth only gives you a non-helpful message that the plugin wasn't found.

Dependency walker can be helpful in determining what .dll is missing, but it can be a bit complicated.

Thanks, I took a look at that link. The screenshot alone is so far above my head that I didn't even hear the whoosh as it went by. :)
