Hi all,
Currently underway with a family project to digitise VHS tapes and are somewhat pleased with the quality.
Upon finding and reading this forum, I've come to the realisation we can do
much better. Hence, we come looking for your advice!
Current workflow is as follows:
- VCR: JVC HR-J745EK (PAL)
- Capture: Elgato Video cap
- OS: Win 10
- Storage: 2TB NVMe SSD
- VirtualDub/OBS (whatever decides to work on the day)
- Tapes range from 1990 onwards.
Fully aware we need a TBC in-between the VCR and capture device, happy with the recommendations/advice to look out for an ES10/ES15
.
After discovering the Elgato capture card does not record in lossless format - elcrapo indeed!
What would the ideal lossless USB-based capture devices be?
I saw the
I-o DATA USB connection video capture GV-USB2 works well on Win10 but yet not 100% sure on the lossless aspect.
As an alternative to USB-based captures, I was looking at the
Hauppauge ImpactVCB-e , any horror stories or shall I give this a go?
In the UK, so wish to avoid high shipping costs from the US, etc. if possible.
Open to all ideas, recommendations and so on.
Cheers!
