Whilst it's not necessary it would be easier if I can find more information about these connections to connect to a newer TV set.

I have looked on palsite with no specific answer and couldn't find anything searching.

There is a 5-pin Din (I think), 26 pin accessory connection and rf (currently used directly).

Are there any adapters out there to allow the playback to come through any of these via Scart or HDMI?

Does a 5-pin splitter exist and would it output?

Ah, good question - I'm fortunate enough to have Betamax decks with SCART connectors but they only occurred long after the format had died.

Firstly, scrap the RF - you don't want to be using that unless you really have to.

That DIN connector is for power, I think that's going to be a portable machine is it not? If memory serves that's +12V and ground for the lead-acid battery pack.

*Runs to Google*

Have a look here mon-ami.

The video output at baseband is on that multipin arrangement, I can probably dig-out a pin-out in the archives but connecting to it without a proper cable will be a pain in the cunnlinguals. It's a standard pin arrangement so DIY'ing isn't tricky if you're handy with cable and have a junk box, but it's going to need a touch of work!

Which deck is this? Most of the portable decks have a multipin DIN connector for the camera. Most everything else would have RCA jacks for I/O.

Not those Betamax video machines, they had a weird-setup, the DIN connector is for camera power.

There's a breakout as shown with baseband video and audio, but there were no standard RCAs, the link I've posted shows the setup. Video2000 portables used a similar arrangement.

Judging by the link posted it looks like the composite video output sits on the tuner unit. Idk if there is some extra buffer/amp in there or if it's just directly connected to the VCR unit via the weird hookup connector.

Thanks all who replied.

I'm not looking for anything high end, would a usb TV tuner be able to tune into the aerial connection?

I've never used such a device but there are some floating around out there.
