Hi guys,

First time posting on this forum, haven't needed to great resource! Just looking for some specific advice before purchasing the final part of my workflow the s-VHS. Project is PAL capture of family videos captured on VHS-C tapes. Have about 50 plus tapes in total and have already purchased a keywest tbc and pinnacle 710 capture card.

Would you guys foresee any issues using a Panasonic NV-HS1000 as part of this workflow? I know jvc are recommended but have been advised to avoid as them have a tendency to eat VHS-C tapes. I've read Panasonics can sharpen the images but better that than eaten tapes!
Be great to get your opinions before buying the final piece of the workflow? Or would another s VHS be better?

Cheers!

Just most JVCs do that, not all. Some good PAL do exist.

But that Panasonic should be decent.

We transfer thousands of these tapes a year, I can absolutely assure you that the most critical component here is a good quality adaptor.

We use the Panasonic VW-TCA7E adaptors with the metal base plate, the JVC ones are a bit mediocre and I've not come across anything of comparable quality of consistency in operation. The Panasonic adaptors aren't especially cheap but we have some that see daily use and their decades-old so worth paying for.

Don't go for a cheap 'n' cheerful special from Bezos' mob, been there - tried that.
