There's a cheap UK VHS I want to buy, but I have no PAL VCR and no desire to get one for just one tape.

I can buy a sealed copy of the movie and have it shipped anywhere in the UK, so that's why I would prefer a service local to there versus one closer to me (Vancouver).

I have explored some options here, calling around a bit, but haven't had much luck. Especially trying to find anyone using anything better than a DVD recorder. When I asked one guy about converting a PAL VHS and keeping it in the 25 fps format on DVD, he insisted that the DVDs he creates are all playable anywhere in the world.

We've got some, of course, but are in the USA.
The final video can always be sent by FTP, and there's no need to keep the original tape to save $$.

Some of those folks I worry about. They sound like idiots.

GBP prices for the tape...

Used
Amazon, "Very Good" or "Good": 0.01 + 2.80 to UK or 0.01 + 4.94 to North America
eBay "Good": 1.99 + 6.50 to North America

Sealed
Amazon: 4.95 + 2.80 to UK or 4.95 + 4.94 to North America
eBay: 2.99 + 6.99 to North America

I had thought international shippers were much harder to find on Amazon UK than they are. The price differential in shipping (2.14) really isn't an issue.

So you:
- can offer to transfer this copyrighted movie for me?
- can host a lossless file on FTP, or only MPEG-2?
