The CE310B, WinTV-HVR-1265 and Osprey 260e are all based around the same conexant CX2388x video decoder/pcie bridge, so I wouldn't expect them ti differ massively quality-wise. That said the osprey has balanced audio and bnc inputs, looks more well-built and may have a bit more work put in to drivers/support etc.

For laserdiscs one would probably want something with a 3D comb filter though, something that none of these have.

The CE310B claims to have "ĽOutstanding 3D Y/C separation" and the data sheet for the CX23888 it uses mentions 3D comb in the title.

Ah yeah, the one with the 8 on the end is a bit more advanced apparently, my bad.

It comes with the CX23888-32Z which does have a 3D comb filter. It gives the option to turn it on or off in the settings as well.

In regards to the previous comment about the quality of today's capture cards versus the ones produced in the late 90's and early 2000's, I wouldn't disagree. But it's not really surprising that there would have been a wider range of hardware given that analog video prevailed in those days. Plus, it's indicative of the general decline in consumer demand for quality in favor of convenience (think streaming versus blu-ray, mp3 versus lossless music, cheap audio players/speakers, etc.). I'll always favor quality over convenience myself, but unfortunately most people can't even tell the difference anymore.

An accurate and cogent summary. I agree 100%.
