Hi Guys

Received the Desktop PC today and its purpose is only for VHS RAW capture.

Ive also received the card as well

The system is a Dell Vostro 200 (Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 @ 2.33GHz 2GB 160GB)

The card is a ALL-IN-WONDER X1800

Ive posted a few photos as im worried by a couple of things

1) the Power supply that is installed in the PC...would this be ok, or is the X1800 a bit too powerful, and I need a larger watt power suplly

2) theres no molex connector i can see on this power supply (see pic) is this a problem or is there enough power through the PCi express port as im not sure what is needed.

You apparently have the mini-tower version of this Dell series, who power supply has no 6-pin PCIExpress power cable. Oddly, the smaller slim-tower model odes have one, but that won't help your situation. There are two solutions:

(a)
find an ATX power supply that does have the connector you need. Measure the dimensions of your current and very cheap $20-USD Bestec power supply and find a better ATX power supply that will fit in the space. BesTec is one of the cheapest OEM brands around (that's the way it goes with Dell PC's). There are other budget ATX supplies that are cleaner, better equipped, and not very expensive.

Or (b) I can't see that well from your photos, but if you have a free 4pin molex power cable available inside, try a 4-pin to 6-pin PCiExpress adapter. They are dirt cheap: https://www.amazon.co.uk/4-Pin-Molex...xpress+adapter.

I see only one hard drive. I'd try to find a 2nd hard drive for that PC. Capturing operations to the same hard drive that is home to your operating system can cause trouble, such as dropped frames or audio sync problems.

For power rating, I'd say 300 watts (if the BesTec actually outputs that figure) is barely enough for capture with that card. It would be better if you could find another mere 50 or 100 watts.

You're screwed, basically. They're like unobtainium if you bought the card without it. There have been threads in the past regarding this. That dongle is exclusive to the AIW "X" cards.

The part number for that "ATI AV Input" aka "AV I/O Hub Splitter for All-in-Wonder" is 6110020700G if you want to Google around and try to find someone that has it in stock. There is also 6110018300 which has 2x RF in place of VGA; presumably the rectangular side has the same connector.

A parts seller on NewEgg's marketplace appears to have one for sale for $22 at the moment as part of a bundle kit with the other cables and a manual: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...9SIAA5J3SC1387

[EDIT: In fact, Googling the kit number proves far more useful at this time. ATI GC219RM-106 for the dongle or GC219RM for the whole kit. Just make sure you don't get confused and buy the wrong piece of the kit separately.]

Yes you need 2 S-Video cables to do the passthrough.

What's up with all the dots and multiple paragraph breaks in your post BTW? My poor scroll wheel.

If your card looks like this (two coax OR Belling-Lee if PAL regions got that instead, DVI, and the weird cable plug) then it should work fine with the AV I/O-VGA splitter posted above:
