Technihost Review: Spammer, Warning, Bad, Fraud, Scam!
 

Technihost.com spammed our forum today. :rolleyes:

In addition to being added to our Spammer Hall of Shame, I'm also issuing a warning to anybody that may be considering this host. This is a very shady operation, operated by a Mr. Carl "Eddie" Keyton and his accomplice/alias "Kirk Ladd". Throughout 2011, valid complaints have been written online by would-be customers that were defrauded by this person. Replies received from the support desk have also been proven as lies. He's been banned from virtually every web hosting community online.

Examples of his antics:

• Spamming forums. Quality web hosts don't need to spam.
• A customer was told he would receive a dedicated server in several hours. The server was never set up. In addition, excuses were given, including the absurd idea that UPS would be delivering RAM on a Sunday. Impossible, given how UPS does not deliver on Sundays. (#)
• It was reported that he had been receiving free trial servers from Burst.net, and then selling them to clients. When the trials expired, Keyton didn't pay. Servers were shut off, and customers were left in the dark. This was outright fraud. Burst has confirmed this. (#)
• Defending himself in a forum, and then what appears to be registering other usernames to give himself shill praise. Legitimate, honest, quality hosts don't need to have fake conversations with themselves, and create fake positive feedback. (#)
• His online avatar is a photo of himself shirtless, taken by a webcam, used both at the technihost.com site and others. See attached screenshot, at the bottom of this post.
• Prior to Techni Host, this same person ran a disgraced operation known as Host Parlor. (#)

In addition to those disturbing details, he exhibits all of the problems of a standard bad host:

• Servers that are overloaded, resulting in downtime or horrible speeds. (#)
• The grammatical skill level of a child, and a vulgar vocabulary and attitude to match it.
• Pricing that is impossibly low, such as $15 dedicated servers.
• Most so-called "positive user reviews" found online share the same bad grammar (not just any bad grammar, but the same grammar mistakes!) as the host's owner, leading one to believe it's all fake commentary.

Hopefully you're reading this post before signing up, and not after becoming another victim. :(

I'd like to point out a pair of obvious flaws:

Any seasoned web hosting veteran (be it host or hosting customer) will be quick to point out that this is basically a lie. For example, supporting your customers as a reseller implies some cooperation on the part of the reselling hosts. If the actual host doesn't cooperate, you're going to lose your clients. In this scenario, it's Real Host > These Guys > You > Your Customers. Three people have to "play nice" in order to provide service to that end user. Odds of that happening smoothly? None.

I'm also amused that he defines "nothing" as "just advertise and support". Ridiculous.

Spamming a site on the afternoon of 7/30 when the promotion expires on 7/31 is silly.
