Web hosts caught spamming, writing fake reviews, using nulled software
Quite a few web hosts are run by unethical persons using questionable business practices.
- Instead of paying for software on the server (example: WHMCS), they use hacked ("nulled") copies. - Instead of properly advertising on sites, they spam email inboxes, forums and blogs.. - Instead of requesting legitimate reviews, they write fake ones (shill) or pay others to write fake ones. In fact, most who implore such techniques are not web hosts at all, but instead "web hosts". In other words, not actual businesses. Very often it's amateurs or teenagers "playing host". Setting up your own "web hosting company" takes only $20 between the domain name and a reseller account. But it's no different than buying a bottle of Aspirin at the pharmacy, then setting up shop in a strip mall, and claiming to be a doctor. They lack both formal experience and formal education, and are 100% unqualified. You need to be very careful when buying hosting online! Legitimate hosting services don't need to write fake reviews, using cracked/hacked billing software, or spam forums. Therefore this is a list of hosts that probably should NOT be used:

(Most spammers already know this, so it's not a secret.) But it also serves as proof of spam after the fact, after it's been removed! At some point in time, after a re-index, the spam comments will disappear from SERPs. Don't like being on a list of spammers? Then maybe don't spam sites. Legitimate businesses don't need to shill and spam user-generated content sites. The whole "I'm gonna sue you" mentality is really just icing on the cake here. Had this been an accidental listing, an initial contact would have gone down entirely different. I would also point out that the spam had the same grammar skills of the threat. Hence, again, proof of spam. :2cents: Furthermore, the hosting servers and its operators appear to be in Israel, but are using a .eu domain -- which is against the terms of the EURid registry. The .eu domains are reserved for residents and business entities operating inside the European Union (i.e., the EU). It's been hidden behind an anonymizer service in UK (Safenames House). So it doesn't appear that following the rules -- of anything, anywhere -- is a top consideration for you. |
