Dual Channel audio encoding?

Hi,recently Ive captured some VHS tapes to my PC with a VCR that
only have mono sound.Im capturing the audio thrugh my stereo soundcard.

Im "streaming" the audio through my avisynth script and encode it
with the toolame plugin in TMPGEnc.

So the question is,what channel mode should I use?
To me it make most sense to use the "Dual Channel" option,as long as
the source is "dual channel mono".
But when I load a audio source it always shows stereo in channel mode.
So whats correct?

The day tmgenc will analyse the sources and suggest correct settings is not for tomorrow (all video source are interlaced according to it).

You like dual chanels ? then use it. Personally I encode anything with stereo.

yep,your right.
I tried both and it does not seems to make any difference.
and according to the command line window off toolame,it
says that "Input wav file is stereo",wich also is wrong.

I'm damn sure that stereo and dual channel is the same for the encoder point of view. It's only an information added in the header for the usage of the player, if it can manage it.

That is why I do not encode in Dual Channel : I saw A/V amps that treat differently sources in Dual Channels (that means generally dual mono) and stereo. DPL modes for instance couldn't be activated on dual channel sources.

Okay.
Yes the files, dual channel and stereo are same size, and if I understand
right, contains the same datas, but are flagged different.

So the get the best compability with SAP,its best to flag
the audio with stereo flag.

Ill think I try it that way :!:

Just be informed that Karl found problems on his DPL II decoder with stereo, and this is why dual channel is the general recommandation. But I love to do things differently :)
