Audio and Video Sync problems
 

Hello all. I've been trying to encode Barbershop using the, "KVCD Guide to Creating Good Quality KVCD's v0.5," for the past two weeks. I have followed the guide to the letter and I am still getting audio and video sync problems. It's like I just got transported back in time to the 80's and I'm watching an old Kung Fu flick. <which I love and still have over 76 vhs tapes, lol>

Is it possible for someone to please assist me with this or point me to the, "Creating KVCD's for Dumb@## Marines?" <lol>

Seriously, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on what CPU you have, and what avisynth filters you're using.

I have a Pentium III 1 gig. and I have no idea what what avisynth filters I'm using. <honestly I wouldn't even know where to look for it!!!>

Ok, for a Pentium III 1Ghz, you'll probably encode close to real time at 352x240 without avisynth filters . Higher resolutions will be slower.
I have a Celeron 1.2Ghz, and the other day I encoded "The Green Mile" with some heavy filters ( FaeryDust and Convolution3D ), and it took ~22 hours to encode 8O
Just to give you an idea, the same thing on my Pentium 4 @1.6Ghz takes ~12 hours 8O. But this is an extreme case, because I'm using heavy noise filtering. Take a look at this thread: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic....=preprocessing

Ok remember in the beginning of this post I put "Creating KVCD's for Dumb@## Marines?" I was serious. For the last two weeks I have only been using Red's Guide. Is there another one I can use? I apologize for my ignorance. Any help will be greatly appreciated as far as guides and different templates to use.

well for two weeks i followed the guide to the letter. i wasn't sure which of your templates to use so i tried all of them (NTSC) and i played around with the cq in TMPGenc to get it to fit on one 80 min cd.

i used headache for the audio, but in his guide he doesn't have resample to 44.1khz, checked. i don't know if that would of been the reason for the sync problem but im doing everything all over again from scratch.

right now i'm using tmpgenc 2.510 with the KVCD 720 x 480 full d1 - NTSC.

i also was receiving error msg's in VCDEasy, but i sifted throught the forum and found out what i was doing wrong, so that's squared away.

am i using the proper template?, and do you think the resample box being unchecked in Headache was the problem.

Yes I believe that is an error in the guide. The audio should be resampled to 44.1Khz. If you mean KDVD 720x480 Full D-1, that template is for making DVDs. Not VCDsYou should try first with a simpler template. Try KVCD LBR. That will be very compatible with a standard VCD, and remember to resample your audio to 44.1Kz. Give that a shot :D

plz don't lose faith i will get this, lol... also i just looked at Sans settings for tmpgenc, and i have no idea where do i locate the avisynth/virtualdub script reader v0.1.

i went to his site via his link and i'm not sure which zip file to download. any suggestions?

If you run TMPEG and go to "Options/Environmental Settings/VFAPI Plug-in", do you see "avisynth/virtualdub script reader v0.1" in the list :?:

I found it, unchecked everything except avisynth. (was i supposed to load something else?) and i downloaded the kvcd 352x240 lbr. so what do yo u think? lo tengo, o no?

also i changed the default frame size from 23.97 to 29.97, because that is what i got from dvd2avi. was that right?

Once you install it, you will be able to open avisynth scripts, which have the extension .avs
Here's a script that you can use as a template to experiment. Just copy and paste into notepad and save it as master.avs or any other name you want with the extension .avs:

As you have already downloaded the KVCD LBR template, you are already set to encode at that resolution 352x240. I've set the script above just for that. You only have to change the line mpeg2source("My_Movie.d2v") to point to your .d2v file, and that's it :D
So just open the .avs file as source with TMPEG and try it out.

i loaded the script like you said and at first it said exception error on line 8. so i re-ensured that i had dvd2avi 1.76, i did, but i re did the file again anyway and made the filename shorter. i didn't get the error when i loaded the avs file, but instead of going through encoding the entire video, it started to grap only bits and pieces of the video. for example some from the beginning some from the middle and the end.

i wasn't sure if that was what it was supposed to do but, i stopped it and ran it without the video. y todo via no durmido. it's about 10 minutes from finishing it's encoding so hopefully this time will be a hit.

can u tell me if that was the way that file was supposed to work?

ok so i re did everything and i still have the video ahead of the audio. looks like the 5 deadly venoms. im trying again to see what happens, and at this point im losing my sanity :D
