dual channel vs joint stereo... in all cases?
every rip i have done has been with a 5.1 audio track and i am quite happy using dual channel stereo. i am currently ripping Dead Alive (which is by far the best movie i have ever seen) and this is the 1st instance i have run into feeble audio. what should i do?
AC3 T01 2_0ch 192Kbps im not clear on whether i should apply dual channel to ALL encodes or change it up. **note: i am ALWAYS encoding in 128Kbps any help would be greatly appreciated. thx. |
hey,
me and my friends once had a Faces of Death marathon which we followed up with Dead Alive to lighten things up  Glad to hear this movie's out on dvd now- I still remember the lawnmower scene  I think you could get by with joint stereo or mono for that one :D- Sorry I don't have any good advice on that- just wanted to chime in because u and me are probably the only people in this forum that has ever seen this    |
right on! RENDALUNIT,
its welcoming to hear someone appreciates that culty type of movie genre. all my friends think im a complete wierdo. i remember seeing faces of death 1, 2, and 3 when i way a boy and it was pretty warped stuff. its all good tho. i think its avaliable on DVD, but no where, id think its rentable. thanks for trying tho. i think ill just keep it on dual channel unless i hear something different. thx. "stay back boy, this calls for divine intervention... i... kick ass for the lord!" |
Hey guys you're NOT the only one ;) Faces Of Death And Dead Alive are pretty popular movies over here... don't know anything about the audio thing though...

:) I always encode with dual channel, bitrate 160 kbps. The final movie size is usually 30mb bigger than a standard encode but usually will still fit onto 1 cdr. The audio quality is always really good and not tinny sounding like some of the rips I've done at 128 kbps. I don't know about anybody else but when i encode in joint stereo the central speaker on my surround sound system doesn't function, but does with dual channel. I hope this is of some help. |
wow! thanks 8210,
thats pretty much exactly the answer i was looking for. you see, i dont have the luxery of testing my stuff on a 5.1 entertainment system, so i just cross ye ole fingers. ill keep using dual channel for my rips from now on. thanks again, 8210, i really appreciate the input. |
