Has anyone tried tmpgenc dvd author?
With TMPGEnc DVD Author you can change (author) you MPEG-1 / MPEG-2 files to DVD-Video structured files. Using high quality MPEG files made by the "TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 series" or captured by an MPEG capture device, it is possible to perform your own DVD authoring quick and easy.
The outputted file structure (.ifo, VOB) can be burned to a DVD disc using the DVD Writing Tool included from version 1.5 or using your own DVD writing software. This way you can create your own original DVDs. Since DVD Author also supports DVD-Video files (VIDEO-TS.ifo) as input files, you can also cut out scenes from your favourite DVD and make a new DVD-Video. You are also able to create interesting menus using the "motion menu" feature also included in the product. We recommend you to try this easy to use authoring software Can create "Motion menu" that uses movie clips as source It is possible to create a menu with motion using a video clip as source like in commercial DVD. Motion menu can be used for not only the menu background but also the menu picture. kvcds are acepted if you dont have a dvd burner you can make 700mb mdvd mini dvds |
GRRRRRRRR....
I HATE double post :!: DO NOT do taht. We lose time in answering in wrong copy of the thread :-( There is the answer I did in you other thread (that I had removed by the way) : Where is the info ? I really don't see the point of your post. Can you tell me ? Note: KVCD are NOT supported in their integrality by tmpgenc author. Only mpeg2 are. And only in standard DVD resolution that is 352*576 and 704(720)*576. You can also do mpeg1 in 352*288. Let me remeber you that best KVCD are MPEG1 544*576 of perhaps that is the info you want to share with us ? |
yes you can
yes you can i tried it my self works great with a dvd player that supports mini dvd 352/240 work it writes as a non standard dvd with motion menus

can you explain and post here step by step? |
Hi jorel,
It doesn't have to be 352x240 :!: You can do 704x480 too. Just encode MPEG-2 as usual, making sure you set pulldown flag, and audio at 48Khz Then burn your image to CD-R instead of DVD-R. That's a MiniDVD :) Use CalcuMatic to get your average, and make sure you select DVD Overhead, because the muxing is larger in DVD than VCD/SVCD. -kwag |
step by step
the mpeg can be mpg1 or mpg2
it acepts all mpgs |

i did a little cartoon using calcumatic with 704x480 like you posted! 8) but i don't knew that 352x240 work in minidvd too! 8O this is surprising for me. then i can use 3 or 4 cartoons in 1 cd-r 700mb cos in Brasil have little cartoons with round 10/15 minutes each! how i do the adjusts for minidvds 352x240 ? :? |

MPEG-1 can be up to ~1,800Kbps MAX bitrate, at 352x240(288), and audio MUST be 48Khz (but you already encode your audio at 48Khz ;) ) But if your target is for DVD(KDVD), use MPEG-2, and set the VBV buffer size to  224KB(set to 112) on TMPEG (Or CCE or whatever MPEG-2 encoder you are using). Do NOT set the VBV buffer to 40KB, as that value is used on VCDs. For KDVD(DVD) MPEG-2 targets, you use the full size VBV buffer. Keep that in mind ;) -kwag |
Which is the reason to record something ee mini format DVD.
It has more quality than recording like SVCD? -------------------------- Visit: Intermediate guide: MencodeMe/Win32 - Avisynth - MakeAvis by Prodater64. Mini DVD is cool if you want to end up with the same features like DVD, means Menues etc.
BUT you only can record in mode1, means one CD80 takes approx 700MB. |

...lots of that details i don't knew! :o
thanks Kwag and all  |
I use TMPGenc DvD Author when I encode my avi files to KDVD.The only thing is that when I encode the file and load in the kvcd Template the aspect ratio is at 16:9.TMPGenc DVD author, when the file is done encoding, says that for the resolution of 352x240 you cant use a 16:9 Aspet Ratio. So what I do when I encode my files is change the aspect ratio to 4:3 and it seems to work fine so far.
I have done about 8 movies like this and I can fit roughly 5 or 6 movies on 1 DVD. |

When I start from avi I do 3-movie DVD in 544*576. That gives 1.4 Gb per movie and this is almost THE DOUBLE they use to have when I did KVCD. Then there is an interrest :!: |
