Playback problems - Windows XP and Windows Media Player

Just switched to WinXP and loaded all my kvcd toolz,
even the mpg2 decoder (stinky's tool) which allowed me to
use or view rather, mpg2 specifically skvcd or svcd's on
windows media player 6.4 under windows 2000.

Installed the same codec/filters, but there's no playback on wmplayer 6.4 (mplayer2) with Windows XP {no-servicepack 1}.
Anyone know if i need another codec.filter etc....
or not? I absolutely loathe wmplayer 7 , stock with the OS, and have avoided it like the flu till now.

Part of installing new ati radeon (catalyst) drivers, i did install windows media encoder series 9,,,can't recall if i installed direct x 9 or not. Would that make a difference ?

I'm using XP Professional SP1 here. No problems at all :!:
Never had a problem with XP (No SP1) either.

Hi ztr,

Try installing WinDVD. I think it has one of the best filters for MPGE2 out there. I mean that even if you don't want to use WinDVD for playback, wm player 6.4xxx will use WinDVD filters to play your media.
Btw, try wmp 6.4.4.2 by Gabest (from VobSub). He made some nice improvements on the classic wmp. But never forget ZoomPlayer. I still think ZP+WinDVD filters is the best mix for playing any video file!
