Final managed to get avs script to work. Now, is the a filter for brightness? The orginal is very dark for some reason so would like to brighten the picture.

You can use TPMEG's internal color correction for that.

Also would like to make the picture full screen. The orignal file is widescreen.

8O With your right hand, grab the top of your tv. With your left hand, grab the bottom. Now stretch your tv set to get full screen  JUST JOKING :D
You can do it, but you'll loose the correct aspect ratio of the movie.
If your original movie is wide screen, you should leave it as such. You'll also gain more disk space with wide screen movies than with full screen movies. And the quality will be superior for the wide screen versions. If you still want to do this, go into TMPEG and play with "Video arrange method" under the Settings/Advanced tab.
