Yes, it can really take that long to encode a movie. :(
spacedust() will speed things up... :D |
Thanks for the reply. I will try the ver. 5 and hope that will speed things up a bit.

Got a Thunderbird 1.33 GHz, 512 mb ram and it takes from 8 to 16 hours to encode depending the filters used, the movie covering of the screen (letterboxed or not) and the lenght of the movie.
So, that is normal. Gaudi |
Time to buy a 3Ghz Pentium 4 ( Double Core 8) ) with Hyper Threading

It is a real pitty. Because to be able to buy one of those now, here in Argentina I would have to work for 4 to 6 months, and be able to survive without eating.

Cheaper to buy two Athlons ;).

Read some post in Doom9 about someone with a dual P4, encoding movies at almost realtime.
Everyone´s dream... (at least mine) Gaudi |

My whole computer (the case) is at around 50°C. The diskettes come out very, and I mean very, warm. Gaudi |

Hmm, my Athlon XP 2100+ runs like a dream. Besides, I'm in Canada -- any extra heat is welcome .
|
yea the longest it's taken me to ever encode one movie has been max 8 hrs no matter what movie it is, filters doesn't matter. Although like sansgrip said, living in canada having more than one computer would jack the electricity bill but would sure help the gas bill

Have you tried FaeryDust C3d combination? I have a XP1800+, and some movies ARE taking 12 hours to encode with this combination...
