Avisynth: Divx/Xvid Anime to kvcd?
 

I have many japanese divx/xvid anime that I would like to convert to kvcd so that I can watch it on tv and serves as backups as well.

What kind of script I should use to obtain optimal quality and file size?

Script for high quality(source) to kvcd?

Script for med to low quality(source) to kvcd?

Anyone wants to share their favorite scripts and filters?

By the way, I am using avisynth 2.08, should I update to 2.5x?

Oh, even it is a fansub anime. It is not allowed?! Very often, the original DVD or VCD is not avialable especially the new ones. Moderator, can you please lock this thread if you think this material is too sensitive. Thanks.

I am moderator. Not of this forum but for two others here (DVD2SVCD and French forum). And I tell you you won't make anyone believe that all your anime Divx are fansub's. So please...

The thing is, that lately we've had too many questions related to DivX (XviD), and this is beginning to be a problem :!:
I understand that many DivX files are legal, and many are not. But the problem is that these files are being converted by so many different methods, that it becomes a pain when trying to re-convert them to MPEG-1/2. If the sources are MPEG-1 or MPEG-2, AVI (HuffYUV, MJPEG), then we get excelent conversions to KVCD. I've read many comments on the net, of people saying that KVCD looks like crap, when in reality, it was a DivX to KVCD conversion that cause the reduced quality. So I personally, from now on, will not support ANY kind of DivX, XviD conversion hints or replies. Plus it's a pain for file size prediction too, because of the lowsy CODEC designs (related to file "Seek" functions). We've come a long way, creating a quality that surpasses any current VCD/SVCD quality in the market, to start jeopardizing all of our efforts because of low bitrate/inferior format (DivX) which was designed for WEB and low bitrate multimedia applications. DivX just doesn't scale (it was never intended :!: ) to high bitrates like MPEG-2, for broadcast quality.
If others do want to help and answer DivX questions, well that's fine with me. But this will be on their own, as from now on, KVCD.Net will NOT endorse ANY kind of DivX, XviD, (MPEG-4) conversions, until we see those CODECS redesigned or improved in all the flaws they currently have.

Many japanese animes are fansubbed that I know of. Of course, believe or not believe is up to you. :wink:

But yeah, Kwag, I understand your point. I am also very impressed with kvcd ability to record 120 minutes or more on one cd with good quality. Although converting from divx/xvid to kvcd, the quality might not be as good as the others (eg. dvd), it is always a good thing to have different choices. Keep up the good work. :)
