Avisynth: Problems with mpeg2dec3.dll, advice needed!

mpeg2dec3.dll is causing me tremendous grief! Please see my post in the optimal script forum.

http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6408

Essentially, it looks like the colorspace is all wrong, but I don't know what to do to fix it!

Has anyone else ever had these type of problems before? Does it have to do with the version of dvd2avi I am using? I am using version 1.76 which I read was the most reliable.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Icarus

Icarus3000,
here:

Kwag is answering all your posts and
he is the better helper for everybody in the forum!
a good idea is back to that thread!

Jorel:

Sorry I thought this would be a better thread. Kwag indicated that I needed the latest mpeg2dec3 which I already have!

Thought someone on this thread might have another idea.

you will right if the problem is (or was) the mpeg2dec3!
i'm using the same mpeg2dec3_25_dll_20030728 like you
and don't have problems...Kwag is using too, and this is the last version!
i can be wrong but i think that mpeg2dec.dll (if i remember)
for avisynth 2.5x, can be used only with dvd2avi176 !

but like i posted (there), i think that CQ58.1 too low
for 101 minutes using 544x480.
try to use 480x480 to encrease the CQ and
use 2500 for maximum bitrate in Tmpgenc!

after find the new CQ, encode a sample using trim on the script
using the same scene where you got problems and compare!

Jorel:

I have detemined that regardless of the CQ i use, mpeg2dec3 is causing me problems. So this is not strictly speaking a kvcd or optimal script issue.

For example, I prepared a script that ONLY has the lines:

loadplugin("c:\plugins\mpeg2dec3.dll")
mpeg2source("c:\movies\movie.d2v")

Then open the .avs file in TMPGenc.

I get the strange color effect NO MATTER WHAT. Even if I set the CQ to 100, evein if I set CBR to 5000.

I suspect my problem may be related to the relationship between the version of dvd2avi I am using and the version of mpeg2dec3 I am using.

FYI: I am using dvd2avi 1.76. Is there a newer version, and is it better? Which version do you use?

Many thanks!

Icarus

Go to this thread

http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic....e6ab8c9f2052a2

and follow Jorel's links to neuron's fixed dvd2avi. This has the fixed dvd2avi and the corresponding mpeg2dec3 dll to use.

Cheers,
