Updates to MA?

Hey guys, I haven't been around this forum for a while so I was wondering what updates people had to the optimal script. I've heard some mentionings of Deen and VagueDenoiser, I'd love to know what changes people are using nowadays (and even whether The Master himself (aka Kwag) has anything to offer!

Thanks guys

Not updates are needed. I find that the current optimal script ( for DVD sources ) still does an excelent job.
So until vague is speeded up, or some other filter comes up that can superceed the current filtering schemes, the current script is still doing it's job ;)

:? sorry for jumping in here, between you all KVCD masters :?
I'm really happy with MA script. Don't misunderstand my next comments as if I thought it must be changed. Just my experience.
I substituted STmedianfilter with MipSmooth (movieHQ parameter) and, to my eyes, it looked better (I canīt explain: clearer, sharper,... just better).
As I still haven't tried the last change in the MA (STmedianfilter(3,3,1,1)) I don't know if it will look the same.
I just suggest MipSmooth could make a good work in the MA script, what do you think :?:
Saludos amigos :D

Hi digitall.doc,

Yes, maybe MipSmooth will indeed compress more. But my idea of the MA script is for DVD sources, so I want to keep the maximum details. The more filters that are applied, the more details will be lost.
Currently, the latest changes to the MA script still preserve fine details, but eliminate more background noise. As a matter of fact, I think that it does a better job than "undot". So I think that now undot can be effectively removed from the script. I have to make a couple of tests, but I'm pretty sure that undot is now useless with the addition of STmedianfilter(3,3,1,1).

Hi Kwag:
yes, you're right (as always, I guess :) ). My test where made from video captures, and not directly from DVD. Maybe thatīs the reason it looked better to me with MipSmooth.
I was thinking that as MipSmooth has lots of parameters to adjust, maybe it could be tuned up to be used in the MA script. But I suppose it's no sense to make use of a different filter to get the same result as the old one (unless we get better or faster compression).

Maestro, lots of us are waiting 8O for your suggestions on MA script (or whatever).
Make us know...
