Scheduled recording on WinTV-Go card?
Hi to all. I have been using my Hauppauge WinTV-Go for some time with great results on captures. I want to be able to schedule TV recordings in advance but have not been successful in finding any non-commercial software that will change channels etc. for this particular card. Hauppauge have software for the PVR card and VirtualdubVcr does not have an XP compatible version yet as I understand. Commercial software should do it(eg. WinDVR or PowerVCR) though.
Anyone got any suggestions (Kwag I know you have this card). Cheers.....Jeff |
Hi ozjeff99,
WinDVR is very good. It's about the best real-time software encoder I've seen. Better that PowerVCR. I like the quality much better. You can capture MPEG-2 at a very high bit rate, and then transcode to MPEG-1 with a KVCD template. The results are pretty good 8) I'm not using this capture card anymore, because I now capture with the Panasonic DMR-E20 to DVD-RAM. Then I take the DVD-RAM to my PC and transcode. Nothing can beat that as a real-time hardware encoder. I haven't seen any hardware cards that approach the quality that Panasonic has achieved with that machine. -kwag |
Thanks Kwag. Yes I have been tossing up whether to go the expense with that Panasonic unit or the newer one (the ethernet connection seems interesting) :? . Without going in to details, in order to have access to all cable channels and switch them by the either a new unit or in software I need to invert the cable video on the way in or on the way out. Dscaler does this nicely. So I'll try for a software solution first and see where that takes me.

There is a mod of Virtualdub that has tuner control and scheduled recording. I've downloaded it but I haven't tried it.
Let me know if you can't find it, I'll dig around. |
The site is www.virtualdvr.org. I have not tried the software though.
