Capturing videotapes from Hi8?

Hi,

I like to use the KVCD templates to make backups of my home recordings (Hi8, NTSC 29.97 interlaced) , I like to know if any of you have had success, Based in your experiences, I like to know:

1.- What would be the best deinterlaced method for this case.

2- Does FitCD works for calculate the correct rezising & crop for this case? or is better go manual.

3.- Are there any suggested chain of filters, preferably in avisynth?

Thanks, Regards.

if you've got a tv-in (i suppose you do) you may record it with the huffyuv codec to avi in virtualdub and then use the flaXen vhs filter (type it into google and just download it) save it again as huffyuv-avi and then open in tmpegenc and convert to kvcd
