from 2K to XP

hy all!

i got big problems with win 2K with all updates, see some of them:
CCE was encoding at 0.42 but in win 98SE was running at 1.26.
PowerDVD,DIKO,MencodeME,PackShot don't work.
dvddecrypter run at 1,4x max and need more than a hour to rip a dvd in my 2 drives,
no matter what i choose but in 98SE run at ~7.6x!
IE crashing, firefox crashing, blue screen with lots of advices...
i was burning a cdrw for my friend yesterday and the system reboot alone
...it happen 2 times....¡Se aprovechan de mi nobleza!
the new tmpgenc crash after open...well,this is what i am remember now.
 i never get any of this problems using win98SE!
then,as a "extreme expert" i think: just update to XP !
¡Todos mis movimientos están fríamente calculados!

now is reeeeeeeally better:
the system only crashed 3 times in 6 hours...
powerdvd,MencoderME,PackShot and DIKO still not running.
dvddecrypter running a "little better".
CCE encoding at 0.768 and crash 2 times.
the new tmpgenc open but advice about lameacm.acm that break "don't remember what"...
and i'm :bawl: ¡Lo sospeche desde un principio!
as i told, never happen before with 98SE or ME.
why? whyyyyyyyyy?
please, give me hints (or bill telephone to say the true about his mumy)!
:bawl:

let me post it faster or the system decide to rebbot after i end it..
i need a gun or a priest to solve this problems :?:

 When you update from a systemto an other you just update the programs that THE SYSTEM KNOWS ! If there is something that the installer do not know it just let it as it is.

In other words -> if you have a unfunctionning win2K you obtain a unfunctionning winXP
:!:

You need an installation FROM SCRATCH.

Save you data, format the disk. I suggest you to do a 8GB partition C: that will host the system and keep the remainder of the disc for the data. That's what I do and this way I can ghost the system only and restore it when I need in 5 minutes (real) without wondering about my datas.

 exact the way i have Phil!
maxtor 60GB (7200rpm) as master with 8GB for C: and the remainder to D: .
yes,... "no way out"... i will do from scratch like your recomendation. :) thanks!

the strange is that the 2k was installing over the 98SE that was working and the XP over that 2K.....the 98SE was working fine, i only update the system, nothing more...
:?

The stangest thing is that M$ allows you to update from win98 to 2000. These are two branch of product completly separated.

win2000 is an evolution of winNT, not win 98 !

That is surely what screwed up your system.

why don't have a advice about that? 8O
when you run the 2k cd you was only asked if you want to update.

you're right Phil, this is the reason!
before i format and reinstall everything, i will try to use my last ghost image from ME and install XP over that....."who knows" :!: :?: :!: :?:
thanks!
:)
