You should have choose a 160GB disc but your pc is not "so bad" :hihi:

i have a similar system (asus p4c800 deluxe w/ p4 3.2g HT) - but with a 200GB Maxtor SATA drive ;-)

Works great - takes app. 1.5 hrs to encode std. length movie. Unfortunately overclocking didn't work for me. I was only able to overclock to 10% (didn't boot otherwise) and even though everything seemed to be running fine - CCE stalled every 4th run.
After returning to std. 3.2g clock, the problem with CCE went away.

they dont overclock so good .

no, it's the Northwood design.

i was a little disappointed that it didn't overclock as i had expected. As I have Dual DDR 2x512MB Kingston PC-500 DDR4000 good quality RAM this was even more disappointing... Guess the Intel processors are pushed to their limits to begin with.

Still, 10% overclocking is approx. 3.5 GHz which is pretty good (system was stable except for CCE hang). I haven't played a lot with this, but Asus has a setting named 'turbo' that i also enabled during testing - maybe i should try again without 'turbo'.

Regarding the overclocking, Intel's already pushing the NW technology to the limits, think about that! The chip just can't go much higher due to restrictions in the design. What's good about Northwood is that it produces less heat than Prescott IIRC.

If CCE hangs, your system is not stable :wink: A good tool for testing the stability of your OC'd computer is Prime95, run the blend torture test for several hours and it will tell you that. The program often gives an error within 30 minutes if your computer's not stable.

o.k i got my system
and i wonder if you know of any way to check if my cpu/system
is really working at Hyper Threading ?
in the Bios it's enabeld - but when the computer starts it doeasnt say HT

my bios is from american magnetics is your p4c800 also AM ?
my i tried to use the built in overclock option of 10% and it faild .
i only choosed the TURBO mode and set the ddr speed to 500 MHZ
it didnt let me change the FSB .
I didnt have alote of time to play with it yet ,

You should be able to check it via Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL in Windows). I think it should show two logical processors if HT is enabled.
