A friend of mine installed SP2 and now has nothing but trouble.

Now he's McAfee firewall no longer works and recently if he clicks on some links on websites it wont go to that link.

Unfortunately he udated before I got to warn him against it, I told him to do a system restore before the update but problem remains.

Thanks for the link jorel I shall have a read. :)

There's no need for system restore. SP2 can be uninstalled via Add/Remove programs.

The question is : can we really trust M$ on that point ?
When you see all that is left behind all M$ tools when you remove them, I won't bet a cent on this !

I installed SP2 on my notebook about two weeks ago.
Previously, I was able to use a backup program for my DVB Satellite receiver.
Now it doesn't work :x

That's quite true. However, if the idea is to get the system just running, it's a good option. You should do a clean reinstall of the OS anyway if you want to be 100% sure.

No problems with SP2 on my system, which amazes me 8O

So far, no problems here too Boulder, and must I say that it also amazes me 8O
Though I was going to bet that my PC was one tiny little bit faster before SP2 was installed
Cheers

SP 2 works great on my system too,
only program that has trouble is "The Film Machine",BUT
what do we need that for when D.I.K.O. does the job
better :D :?:

Also I tried to uninstall SP2,and it seems to me that
everything went back to SP1 level afterwards.

For me SP2 is working great :!: 8O
No problem with any of the software I have installed... (so far :D )

My friend tried System Restore and Add/Remove but still some remnants of SP2 remained.

I think I may have found one of his problems out it was the inbuilt Pop-Up Blocker incorporated in SP2 with IE I found out how to disable it.

I still refuse to install it as I don't want to mess up my current firewall and system set-up but im happy for those who have upgraded and have no problems with it. :)

I actually like the pop-up blocker. By default it blocks every pop-up and after a while of teaching the blocker, all the necessary pop-ups are shown. No need to install any external program to filter the pop-ups, very handy in my opinion.
