Intranet & CRM application

Hope all is well with everyone.

Does anyone know of an application which could create
an intranet from scratch {with or without other features such as CRM, calendaring, forums etc...} preferrably not too costly or even freeware?

I'm doing some free consulting work for a non-profit organization
looking to setup an intranet.

They're currently using FirstClass as their main communications package.
But due to budget constrains, have to find an alternative solution.
Anyone come across a similar application to FirstClass by chance?

Hi Zoot :),
Nope, unfortunately I've browsed the web looking for CRM applications that could do it but I never found anything.
So we keep using good old GoldMine that is good for a low cost CRM but sucks cause you can't publish the DB on the web :(
Anyway let me know if you find something useful.
I was needing something good for helpdesk system.
Cheers pal.

Hi Zooter,

i can recommend typo3 as content management system. Is has alot of features built-in, many users have written extensions.
Here's the link:
http://www.typo3.org
Just browse the extension list...
A hint: setup should be done on a *nix system (due to performance).
Let me know if i can help.

Thanx y'all..

I'm still looking around for them.
Problem is that they don't have the expertise to go *nix, or
hire someone to help out. Unfortunately, theyre stuck in a windows
environment.

In all my searchin' , i did find a free pdf printing app though, which i thought was kinda' cool

Found one app but it requires other apps/servers/applets on the
backend...it's free open-source though...

No Problem. typo3 performs well also on Windows and is easy to setup, especially on windows.

Personally, i don't like jsp apps very much. We had a lot of performance problems with java :-(
