thunderbird vs OE for auto dun to get mail....
@anyone,
I switched from Outlook Express 6 to Mozilla Thunderbird under windows XP home and I missed the ability of OE automatically using the DUN and retreieving my email. With Thunderbird I have to manually start and login to the ISP and then get mail. Is there a clever or maybe not so clever way to get Thunderbird to auto dial up the ISP before getting email. :?: -BP |
I don't know BP :roll:
I haven't used dial up in a while, so I hadn't noticed that this was missing. Someone else has any idea :?: -kwag |
Me neither.
I've been using a permanent connection for ~1 year. Maybe you could try the mozilla.org forums. Other than that I don't have any ideas. Cheers |
Thanks Kwag and rds_correia,
I forgot about Mozilla's forums. :) -BP |

@all,
Found more cool stuff for TB the makes it act like OE. 1) Outbox_0.1_rep.xpi --> this extension when installed creates "Send Later" button similiar to Outbox in OE, for new messages and reply messages. 2) FreePops-0.023.exe --> this allows you to retrieve email from HTTP webmail like Hotmail.com and others that don't use POP3. 3) Hotmail.lua --> this TB plugin with FreePOP allows you to get hotmail. 4) TBTray_05b.zip --> this program creates a icon on the system tray of TB and when double-clicked brings up TB for use. I created a short-cut for TBTray in the Startup Folder. The more I tweak TB, the more I like it. It's a great email client 8) -BP |

I love that language, and I wrote some commercial cool stuff (E-Mail -> paging terminal communications (TNPP/TAP) stuff ) about 4 years ago. And I posted this circa 2000 ;) : http://www.lua.org/uses.html#26 -kwag |
