Holographic Versatile Disc - 1 terabyte on a single disc!
|
Let's do a little math
Right now, we can put an average of 3 movies (~6 hours) with exceptional quality on a DVD-5, "a la KDVD". This means that with one terabye of capacity, we will be able to put ~1024/~4.3 = ~238.139 equivalent DVD-5's per each 1TB media, which would give us ~238.139 * 6 = ~1428.83 hours of KDVD storage at 704x480(576) That's a LOT (~58 days) of video on ONE Holographic Versatile Disc :hello: -kwag |
The consortium is now bigger. First disc are waited for summer 2006 and should be 200 GB, not 1T.

Not thinking of the price of one Media ... I still remember the days of the Iomega JAZ 200MB cartridges prizes 8O
