Hard Disk Manufacturer which one and why ?

From which manufacturer would you buy a brand new HD ? Which one and why ? Considering only 7200+ rpm models .

Western Digital ?
Samsung ?
IBM ?
Maxtor ?

thanks;

Really 7200+ ? For almost 95% of all videojobs a 5200 is enough and results in less noise and less heat.
The prices for 5200 are in relation high as they are wanted a lot due the reasons I pointed to above ;)

For high density video work, go SCSI. Seagate Cheetah drives: http://www.seagate.com/cda/products/...81,541,00.html

You could use the newer SATA, but SCSI still has the edge.
I've yet to see a raw video (non-compreseed) capture at 720x480 without any dropped frames, even with 7,200 RPM IDE drives.
With 10,000 RPM SCSI drives, I can capture a full couple of hours without a single dropped frame.
