Lookie what I did today :-)
Turned out to be much more work then I expected. My CPU is overclocked and the temps in my antec case where higher then I wanted. So I was going to add a fan to the side.
I figured if I was going to cut a fan whole might as well cut a window and put some cheesy lights too :D So a 12 pack and a jigsaw later this is what I ended up with. Hard to really show off the inside of the case with that huge fan I put on there, but more air was the point so oh well. Functionality over Flash I guess. http://www.digitalfaq.com/archives/error.gif http://www.digitalfaq.com/archives/error.gif http://www.digitalfaq.com/archives/error.gif[/IMG] |
The "Disco-PC"
Also, use it as a night light  Looks very cool  -kwag |
and can do more:
call the secretary, pop corn, cry if you hurt, twice carburator, advocate, comb your hair, dismiss ex-wife, freezer, sing to you sleep, sale tickets to night club...and much more. it's really cool and beautiful audi2honda! 8) :!: |
audi2honda my friend,
i'm back here to answer you: what light is that inside so blue? is really beautiful! 8O 8) ps: i have 2 big coolers and one more like your but small! they do a big difference in the temperature and in the performance. but your job is very very beautiful :!: :!: |
Thanks Jorel. It's a blue cold cathode light
|
oh thanks.
tomorrow i search (telephone) to find one like this! :D |
A2H,
nice bro....i lov da blue,,, is that a 120cm fan? those things pump out a lot of air,,,, i've got a few mods going on right now....after i move ill start posting some pix,,,, Jorel,, i've got like two spare CC light tubes... ill send u one....i think its blue..... wonder how much shipping is to Brasil? Zooter |
Thanks el_mero_zooter.
Yea it's a big ol 120mm fan. It moves a ton of air, but is pretty loud. I'm going to get one of those RPM Regulators today so I can adjust the speed manually. I think it movies something like 80cfms of air at 38db. |

http://www.digitalfaq.com/archives/error.gif and was surprised to feel the flow.... Yeah, just get a BayBus to control your fan. Low speed when surfin' High speed high kooking kvcd's... or a Panel if u want to adjust the speed, say by turning a knob,,,, you can start off with a basic unit such as these http://www.xoxide.com/dcfanspeedco.html http://www.xoxide.com/5fanco.html or somethin' midrange a BayBus <--- i use these.... http://www.xoxide.com/6portbaybus.html or a Rheobus http://www.xoxide.com/subl4poblred.html all my rigs have a baybus in 'em or going in 'em.... btw,,, if u decide to go for a controller or panel such as a Vantec-- these units have an alarm {to tip u off if the system is overheating} and it cannot be turned off...some have lower resistance than others.. http://www.xoxide.com/vannexnx.html ZtR |
Hi:
One question, if I were to build from scratch a computer, say 512 Ram, PIII 2.5+ gigas, 60 G hard drive, audio and video cards, modems, fans, etc, etc, Do you have an idea how much it will cost? I know that this is a difficult question to answer, without specifying what I would like to see in the computer, but if you have built one, how much did you expent in parts? Labor of course is not part of the equation... Thanks Totonho03 |

Antec Case with 350w PSU - $65 P4 2.4c CPU @ $180 Abit IS7 motherboard - @$95 512MB PC3500 HyperX ram - @$140 <--you can get cheaper ram if you don't want to overclock Lite-On CD/RW - DVD-ROM Combo Drive = $65 Western Digital 80gig HD $89 after rebates. Decent, but not fancy video card GForce MX $53. <-- if your gamer you can spend a ton here Floppy Drive $5 So total about $692. Note this is for pretty much top of the line Intel stuff. If you want to get an AMD you can prolly save a hundred bucks on the CPU. I also bought expensive RAM so you can save there too. Hope this helps |
Hello audi2honda:
I was going to ask for your location, but I just checked your profile and learned about it. I use to work in the Lakewood regions as well as the Palmdale/Lancaster area. Thank you for the info Totonho |
the HTPC im building right now, is running me about $ 390.00. I went asus for the mobo, 512 ddr, amd 2200+, 52x liteon burner {,,<-- dont get any 52x's from liteon,,stay at 48x tops,,too many discs damaged.}, AverTV card, ATI 7000 vid card,,,on-board lan, usb2, firewire card...and the cathode tubes i already had. Paint was about $ 30.00 or so.
wd hd. The case was donated....free in other words, they were throwing out old servers.  But a new case, cheapie would've cost about 40$ or so,,,a decent one with a psu is gonna run u about $ 60 or thereabouts. ztr |
Thanks El Mero, this is given me an idea of how much it costs
