Knoppix

@all:

For those who may be interested in Knoppix, they just released V3.3-2003-09-22.

I will give a try and see if that resolves my problems.

Thanks

If you already have the previous version installed , open a shell and type:
apt-get update && apt-get upgrade
When it's done, you should have an upgraded system ;)

Well, nothing comes easy.....

No, I was not able to upgrade this way, after lots of lines and tries, I received the following message:

Quote:

E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

I am presently downloading the new image for knppix 3.3, have to wait about 55 minutes for it to download. You can obtain the image file from:

ftp://ftp.mirror.ac.uk/sites/ftp.uni...3-09-22-EN.iso

ftp://sunsite.cnlab-switch.ch/mirror...3-09-22-EN.iso

http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/knoppix...3-09-22-EN.iso

ftp://ftp.uni-kl.de/pub/linux/knoppi...3-09-22-EN.iso
I am using the very first one on the list. The ones near the bottom of the list are slow.

Good download.

Rub it in :twisted:
55 minutes to download, and I have to suffer on a 256k ADSL line for about 5+ hours :P :lol:

LOL :D

Sorry maestro, but can you subscribe to broadband cable services? Who is your provider?
I believe that I mentioned that I use to work for a Cable co. based in Denver, and was associated with Liberty, who used to own TCI. Anyway, here, the provider is Comcast, (they recently purchased ATT cable), and the cable services are excellent. Comcast was not previosly associated with TCI/ATT/Liberty.

I already burnt the cd, and have the same problem, but that belongs to another thread.

Un abrazo, o apreton de manos :D :twisted:

Verizon (Puerto Rico Telephone Com(crap)pany)
It's incredible that our local cable TV company doesn't provide internet services. Then on the west of the island (Mayaguez) and on the south (Ponce), they have cable modems running at 4Mbps :twisted: :!:

Help reduce the load on some of those servers by using the Bittorrent link instead: http://torrent.unix-ag.uni-kl.de:6969/

I've already burned and used my copy a bit, but am still serving the ISO over Bittorrent... uploaded 286MB so far...

I haven't configured enough to read kvcd.net from it though :D

Here's me reading the forums... http://bobnet.dyndns.org/video/knoppix1.jpg 8)

I've got my home directory setup on a USB drive, but everything else is running off of the CD. I also tested the video player (VideoLAN) that comes with it; it happily plays KVCD and KDVD, although I wasn't able to grab a screenshot since it uses the accelerated video of my graphics card...
