the 2 ways Krassi!
i have onboard and sb100(sound blaster)!
sb is on with windows 98se drives, onboard is off( in bios).
:?

That should be ok. You could make a test with your onboard sound device.
The other problem i thought of was a not fullduplex sound card, but a sb is a fullduplex card.
Have you selected your standard device or your sb card in Skype's audio options :?:

jorel 10-24-2003 07:21 AM

yes Krassi,
was selected the sb.

i'm thinking...(really rare)

...sb is working with the drives from 98se,
maybe is better i install the drives that
came with original sb cdr(drives and progs),don't?
i can't see the "full duplex" option in the device manager with 98 drives!

It won't show up, it's only a "function".
If you can do a backup of your system, i would try to deactivate the sb card and install the drivers for the onboard audio and test Skype once again.
But i'm just guessing now

jorel 10-24-2003 08:03 AM

oh yes,
is only a function but you can turn it ON or OFF
with the original drives(if i remember, have option - enable/disable)!

i will try "everything" (on board too)!

:)

Just installed it and its awesome very clear like you said as if the person is in the same room as you.

The only downside i find is that you can only have a conversion with one person at a time (unless of course im missing something).

I used a free prog called 'TeamSpeak' which is good for getting multipal ppl chatting together in a room.

Get that here

kwag 11-30-2003 04:42 PM

Hi Zyphon,

Yes, I've tried TeamSpeak, and it's great program. But the audio quality of Skype ( even used on 56K modems ) is just light years above anything currently available :)
I hope they integrate "multiple users" ( conferencing ) in the future :!:

Hi kwag,

I totally agree with you on that one Skype audio quality is awesome ive never heard any internet based voice chat program with such clear audio.

On TeamSpeak the best audio Codec to use is the GSM 16.4 Kbit i still dont think this is better than the audio quality than Skype but its better than the default TS codec CELP 5.1 Kbit which TS always seems to reset itseld to each time you run it.

The only plus of TS is the multipal users that can talk in a room at once there could some great discussions there i hope Skype incorperate multi users also soon.

Out of interest if Ppl did want to use TS then i have a TS server set up on one of my home network pc's in case any1 wants to use it maybe i could switch it back on.
