I like Linus Thorvald's' quote. And more news about Microsoft and Linux, http://www.infoworld.com/article/03/...wsorder_1.html it looks like Microsoft is either getting scared or just want to dominate.

Both :!:
But in the server market, M$ lost the battle a long tome ago.
99% of all web hosting companies use Linux or FreeBSD as their server platforms. Only in the desktop market, M$ is still strong, and I don't see that changing in a long time.
Also, the embedded market is getting stronger with Linux, and it won't be long before most appliances will also be running some stripped versions of Linux. WinCE lost there too :!:
As for Pocket PCs, there's a big battle between PALM and PocketPC. Probably M$ will win there too, as we already see smartphones using some versions of M$.
On the long run, Linux should enter that territory, and take over that market too.
It's all a matter of time

The fact is Linux is OSS, which means there is no winning or losing, since there is no price to be gained. Yes windows desktop version has the stronghold since it came out more popular first, so most games and software are make to be Win32 compliant, but there will still be competition by developers making it for different platforms and there is always wine to allow the possibilities. Yes there is a lot of people that use windows, but since P2P is out there that what herts Microsoft.
