I have this exact model :!: But no PS2 here, so I can't test... How does ethernet support work in PS2? Is it just a regular network cable? Because if that's the cause it should work if you modem is a router model or has been upgraded to router. If you need to use a PPPoE client in Windows, this mean it's a bridge model (which can be upgraded to router via firmware update). But as a bridge, you won't be able to use it unless PS2 have a PPPoE client and I don't think it has.

thanx vmesquita

Yes it connects with a network cable and yes i have to use a PPPoE client  so i guess my best bet would be to buy a router ,i was just hoping to not have to buy a router(for comlpication reasons)

I hooked up the usb cable to my laptop and left the ethernet cable in my desktop and couldn't get the usb one to work until i removed the ethernet cable from the modem, but if i upgraded the firmware this would work but not for the playstation 2

Oh well thanx again

You don't need to buy a router. This model comes as a bridge but can be upgraded to a router. My SpeedStream 5200 is running as a router right now, with built-in hardware firewall and wen administration and much more. Please read here:

It's in portuguese, use http://babel.altavista.com to translate.

Thanx agian ,looking into it right now

One thing is with my ISP you have to rent the modem so i don't know if i would be allowed to upgrade the firmware

Two ideas:
1) drop this ISP. A modem like that can be bought for less than USD 30 in Brazil, should be even cheaper there.

2) upgrade anyway. Once upgraded, the modem can be software configured to work like a bridge with one click. Ok, they'll find out that you upgraded the firmware if they point the brownser to 192.168.254.254. But even if they do that they can't complain: the modem will still be working like it did before.
