I did tests on NTSC "REd Planet" (The chunk Kwag gave me) .. and there the difference between bottom and top is even worse 8O

Means : As even I did configure the pentium build correct, there could be problem! But if you got an athlonXP (the machine where it has been compiled on).. there will be no problem as I didnt hear any bad report on that.

Well "odd" size numbers are used there ... so I dont think they do align macroblock based as they dont care about that as they got a loooooot of space on the DVD9 where "they" master the data. :lol:

Drag your VOB into VirtualDub, add the "Null Transform" filter, and crop out the black bars.
Then you'll see the film pixel area.

You can do that also in DVD2AVI (this way you don't have to import the VOB into vdub that is a time consuming operation).

Mevu video -> crop/resize. Check the box in the corner and drag the sliders.

Because DVD2AVI's crop is not pixel by pixel. It's 8 pixels at a time. So it's not as accurate as doing it with Vdub.
Also, you don't need to load the complete VOB in Vdub. You can abort the process after 5 seconds or so, and you'll have part of the VOB loaded ;)

Mencoder also have a autocrop filter which reports the correct crop vaules... I don't remember the exact syntax right now. :wink:

This only "writes" cropping values to a special "log" file ... as it can be read there in the manual.

Well is there any function so the followed "crop" can command can read out that "stdout" and include that one in the calculation of "scale" ???? :?

In think there isn't. But if you read some post before, I asked a way to obtain film pixel values, and kwag is just answering that.
