necessary to Deinterlace for DVD?

I would want to know one thing:

A my friend has recorded a television program and he has made a divx. Now I would want to transform this divx in kdvd. I wanted to know is necessary to that is make the deinterlaciament, when and as to do it, (before making the divx or when I make the kdvd).

thanks

If he did the divx as interlaced (supported by Divx 5 and aboce or Xvid), you need to deinterlace it or to encode it in interlaced (mpeg2 only).

If the divx was done in progressive but without having deinterlaced the source... it's too late :!:.

In the case it was made with divx 5 you can say which additions to me I must make in the script.

Code:

Telecide()
Decimate()

is right?

Yes it is but as I said you can also encode in MPEG2 interlaced (that need more bitrate but if you have enought space on the disc for that, the result will be better).

The divx is in v.5.1.1

Can you explain to me as I can get it?

I use cce.

Set in CCE (Quality tab) to alternate scan and use NOT the progressive flag!
That will let CCE encode FIELDBASED which is needed for proper interlaced encoding.
