image shakes

I have done a PAL KSVCD film animate in 4:3 with Mencoder.

Wich it can be the reason that the image shakes when there is movement?

Was the source interlaced?

Hi

Where do you see this 'shaking'? In your PC?

If it's in the PC, it could be because of a 23,976 -> 25 fps conversion. Check the movie framerate.

If it's in your DVD, it could because of to high bitrate. Have a look with BV, and tell us what is the bitrate in this movie part, as mencoder is known for his 'too' high bitrate problem.

It's in my PC and only with this film. Is not interlaced. Only when there are action o camera movement. I have vrc_maxrate=2500.

Thanks.

I see in Show Information option in PowerDVD than the bitrate is over 2000 and sontimes over 2500.

If it is the problem, what is the fix?

lmin= 0.3?
vcr_maxrate=2000?
both?

Hi,

I you see this problem in your PC, I don't think it's a bitrate pb...
Are you sure the original is not a 23,976 framerate movie?

Do you still see this if you open the KSVCD in virtualdub-mpeg2? This way, you can check frame by frame ths movie, and see if there is 'jump' in the movie.

Maurus....

Do import that stream into Vdub .... now move to such a fast moving scene.

Then: Do step forward frame by frame .... NOW does this motion got a behaviour like "back and forth" and "back and forth" ???
That would mean if your source is interlaced then a wrong fieldorder is used at encoding BUT as you said it isnt interlaced then already your source could have a failure according to a bad encoded fieldorder.

BUT if this frame step by step preview in Vdup shows a real "shaking", means also upn down. then something really strange is happening.

IF your step by step preview wont display that "shaking" that intensive like as if you would play back it at its regular fps ... then shurely you got a fps related problem!

;-)

So why dont you provide a nice litte chunk of this encoded stream from a fast motion part using a sample about 30 seconds ... as you got a webspace of your own, I think that will be no problem.

That would be the best way to see whats going on in your encoding

Another time, my poor english...

The problem is only in the DVD PLAYER. Not in my PC.

I see in PowerDVD, with Show Information option activated, than the avg bitrate is in speed scenes over 2000 and even over 2500.

For this reason, I think the problem is an over bitrate. And I ask if vrc_maxrate=2000 and lmin=0.3 or both fix this.

Thanks.

To others:

I just explained him to pleas offer a little chunk so we can see if the problem lays somewhere else before he begins encoding (maybe in a wrong way) again. ;-)

Thanks. I want try this nigth with the new Kwag's adaptative parameters.

In the other side, I will set lmin=0.3, but I will leave vrc_maxrate in 2500 as Dialhot. I also encode for 1 CD.

Thanks, Inc.

Hi, Maurus, have you present that Kwag's adaptive parameters are for DVDs, isn't it? (I know that you always encode SKVCD)

The filters are for DVD Source material.
So it means you can make any target you want with it.
