i encoded a mpeg1 movie and selected the kvcd 528x480 option. then i make a dvd type menu with vcdeasy and burned the cd and it went perfect. and as luck has it my player does not support it but did play on the dvd player i didn't care to play on. then i decided to try and encoded a mpeg2 movie (since people claimed my player, a cyberhome ch-dvd 320 played all templates) and selected the skvcd 528x480 option. after a while i noticed the movie was encoding at 480x480. so i said screw it and waited almost 13 hours to finished encoding and do what i always do and made a dvd type menu with vcdeasy and burned the cd. Now this is where it gets weird. i play the movie with my player and it played perfect untill i try and skip a chapter then the screen goes black and my player stops responding. then i look on the PC when i realized uner the Main tab (where you add your still pictures and video) the MPEG INFORMATION says 29.97003fps 480x480 then i compared it to my other saved kvcd 528x480 project and the MPEG INFORMATION says 23.976024 528x480. so i opened TMPGEnc because it shows the previous setting encoded right before) and it said "DVD2SVCD (MPEG-2 480x480 23.976fps CQ 84.0298285677134)"
is there a solution/answer?
P.S. for the skvcd i swithed from TMPGEnc 2.521.58.169 (the free one) to TMPGEnc 2.59 plus (it supports mpeg2)

There is nothing strange : you probably encoded your video with "3:2 pulldown during play".

Not : 2.59 DO NOT SUPPORT MPEG2 as free. So according to your sentence, I understand that you had a cracked one...

i got it a while back when i tried to encode movies that dreamcast could play and i do not have a cracked version (if i wanted to get a cracked one i would get the latest TMPGEnc 3.0 xpress or the last recomended 2.58 ). that is why i always have dvd sources and not divx and other downloadable stuff. i just read that version is bad to encoded with. i also did not mess with any settings it was all default and your right it was 3;2 pulldown when playback what is it supposed to be at?

That's erroneous : you can encode with 2.59 as with any other verson. That only the MUXING IN VCD MODE that is bugged. But SVCD for instance works.

If your target is a DVD, exactly like this. If you are burning on a CD, then all depends on your player. Obviously your does not support pulldown so try with this (select progressive insteed of "3:2 during playback").

thanx for the tip Phil. but what about in vcdeasy under the Main tab (where you add your still pictures and video) the MPEG INFORMATION says 29.97003fps 480x480 then i compared it to my other saved kvcd 528x480 project and the MPEG INFORMATION says 23.976024 528x480. so i opened TMPGEnc because it shows the previous setting encoded right before) and it said "DVD2SVCD (MPEG-2 480x480 23.976fps CQ 84.0298285677134)"?

Any tool (or player) external to the encoder will see the video as 29.970 when it is encoded with 3:2 pulldown activated. That is the purpose of this feature
Ypur last project wasn't done with 3:2 pulldown, that's all.

thanx Phil. so you mean it shows 29fps but it is really 23fp (3:2 pulldown makes it seem it a certain framrate that it's not) so that it will play with mpeg2 and or on a dvd right?
P.S. the settings i asume is in tmpgenc in setting under encoding type and progressive is "not interlaced", correct?

Look into tmpgenc and you will see that when you activate "3:2 pulldown during playback" the framerate changes to "29.970 (internally 23.976)".
That tells you all

It's a feature supported only by mpeg2, right and it is used only by DVD players. SVCD didn't used it if I'm not wrong.
