Hi all.

I have converted a 25fps PAL divx down to 23.976 using CCE and script with ASSUME command in it. That seems to work fine, and the video looks very nice after being filtered. However, as soon as the pulldown conversion is done, either in DVD Lab or by using pulldown, I end up with a good deal of combing artifacts. To see if it was perhaps CCE not handling things right, I used TMPG with the pulldown activated in there, and the result was still the same with the combing artifacts.

Is this something I need to process a second time after the pulldown is done so to remove those artifacts?

It is mostly noticable on scene changes and objects in movement. The faster the worse the combing.

Thanks. Hope to find a solution.

Thanks for the fast reply.

I saw the artifacts in the display window of DVD Lab.
Do you think it may be only in it's window every pulldown will look that way but not once authored?

Yes it is

Pulldown turns a progressive 23.976 stream into an interlaced 29.970 one. So that is normal to see these artefact when you do a "pause" on a particular frame (what does dvd-lab in its preview window).

Thanks Phil.

Then I will continue my project and author it. Keeping my fingers crossed.
