program to cut the mpeg2 file?
this post is off-topic.
Anyone can tell me a program for to cut the mpeg2 file? I have used Mpeg2cut v1.15, but when I import the file mpeg in dvdlab, i choose quick mode without demultiplexing, then I compile the dvd, After various minutes dvd-lab tell me the following error: "The byte alignment is out of the range" and it makes the vob's file with no audio. Can anyone help me? thanks |

hum hum... you source seems to be corrupted then.
Edit: I don't know if you need to cut the begining or the end but for the end, dvdlab can do that directly. |

Ther problem is... some day ago I asked for a tool to repair mpegs and none was found. The problem was also with a file processed via Mpeg2cut ! Pro gave some hints but as it was not for me I never know if there were usefull. You can find them here : http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12266 |

Another question:
If i choose the option remux in dvd-lab, it makes 2 file, the video stream .m2v and the audio stream .mpa, then give me the error. I think that the problem is in audio stream; with which program I can to test the audio stream .mpa ? thank |
you can convert it into wav with besweet for instance, to see if there is an error or if all is okay.

Use DVTool.
It's the best and you don't get possible asynchronisation problems like TMPGEnc gives it. |
Yes, with the only drawback" DVTool (at least the one I know) is a "general" cutter so :
1/ there is no preview, you cut "by size" and not "by time", 2/ if unlucky you can cut on a non-I frame, and your second part will be definitely corrupted (as video taht does not start with a I-frame is refused by a LOT of application). But meanwhile I found the soulution : cutterman ! Try it ! |
You can try dikuncizer, by Kwag. You can find it in DIKO forum. It's fast and good.

You can try ProjectX (link is at doom9.net's download page). It needs Java and can fix some broken mpeg-2's. Alternatively there's always pvastrumento though it's not always a good tool.

Try videoredo at www.videoredo.com. This is the best mpeg editor I've tried. It's not freeware though....
