Bitrates: CQMatic/Calcumatic?

Hi all,
This is driving me crazy. I have studied all the articles on this and still I cant get this to work. I have both programs installed in TMPGEnc's folder, is this right, first of all. I have loaded a DVD2AVI source in one and the TMPGEnc Text Script in the other. I have predicted the file size on a movie 128MIns(rounded) and AVBitrate 747(Rounded). I am trying to encode the movie which inits original state is full screen to resolution MPEG1 - 528x576. I have tried checking and unchecking Source range in TMPGEnc and DETECT SCENE CHANGES. The first time my mouse just flickered and TMPGEnc did not open. The second time and loads of other times it opened but encoding was extremely slow 10 - 14Hrs' and the output file sizes were in excess of 1.6 GB.

What the heck am I doing wrong with this APP. Any help would be most appreciated as I do not know what to do now. PS. I also set the CD size to Custom and 805MB if this would make a difference. My audio is encoded at 112kbps (108MB).
Thanks..

First note : 128 minute fullscreen must be done at 352*288 :!: (perhaps 352*576 but few movie are correct with that).

For CQMatic :

1/ your first problem is proabaly due to the fact you didn't reset the source range editing before to uncheck "source range". That means that you must go in the source range window, clic on "default", then clock in the menu at the left and select "reset cut editing". then exit form the window AND uncheck the source range check box.
You need to do that anytime ! Just unecheck the box is not enought.

2/ your secodn problem : be sure to have the "audio source" empty in tmpgenc. CQMatic does not work if you have something there.
(idea : before to restart cqmatic, go in the directory where the exe is and remove the 2 cqmatic*.tpr files that are there- they are somtimes corrupted and makes things going crazy).

Hi All,
I tried all the above and recode at specified resolutions. CQ is coming back every time at 89.77, which is giving me wopping great file sizes. What is up with this CQMatic thing. It seems so hard to get it to work properly. I am still having major problems. Anybody with any other suggestions I can try. Dialhot did supply some kind and usefull advise but unfortunatly this does not seem to have cured the problem.
Thanks,
Steve.

Hi Phil,
Unfortunatly I cant find it anywhere and I dont know if I may have erased it after closing the program down by habit. Do you have any other suggestions I might try in the meantime??

Thanks,
Steve
