480x576 and the KVCDx3-MPEG-1-PAL template?
 

I have a 480x208 avi run time 121 mins I am attempting to put on a single kvcd. I am using the suggested v4 script with a resolution of 480x576 and the KVCDx3-MPEG-1-PAL template. I have just been doing samplers to get my CQ for a single disc and so far I am very impressed with the quality, considering the relatively poor source.

However, I would like to change the aspect ratio if possible. Even with the zoom on my widescreen tv it is still very letter boxed. I tried changing the Aspect ratio (video tab) setting in TMPGEnc from 1:1 to 16:9 625 line PAL (btw, how should I do this setting from the script?) and this was a great improvement, however the clip was very 'jerky' when played back on my standalone/tv, but fine in WMP. Could this be a burning problem? I used non standard vcd in nero, or maybe a player problem?.

I would welcome your suggestions on how to increase height and still maintain quality. Setting the 16:9 aspect ratio in TMPGEnc would be perfect, but without the jerky playback! Is there another way to achieve this please? Would 480x480 give similar results?

Some more info... original avi is 25fps, DivX5, audio removed, am muxing in TMPGEnc 'video cd non standard' (but without audio, so not really muxing!) to get mpg, burning to cd with nero, select VCD, and create non standard VCD when prompted. Script is v4 unchanged (other than resolution)but with second blockbuster line uncommented.

You're source is 2.35:1, your TV is 1.77:1. Impossble to fit the first one in the second without borders OR distort the image. So just stop chewing your brain. All changes you did in the setting only lead to A/R screwing.
(your choppy problem is not due to that but perhaps burning as you suggest).

YOU CAN'T ! If you increase the height you distort the image. That's simple to understand I think. You can also cut the sides if you like so much crappy works that take all the screen :-(

Note: did you test the capabilities of you player ? Perhaps it does not handle mpeg1 KVCD ?

Thanks for your reply. After doing more tests I can see now it is best to leave AR of the source alone! Now just gotta wait for TMPG so I can watch my first kvcd creation... :o
