want to encode my 16:9 material to a kdvd

Hi all,

I'm a bit confused. I want to encode my 16:9 material to a kdvd. I use CCE. Because my material is 16:9, I must set the aspect in CCE to 16:9 also right?

But, the scripts are made for 4:3 as is said on the forum. So the source now is actually 4:3 ?

Should I set the aspect ratio in CCE to 16:9 or 4:3 ?

btw I want to view my kdvd on a widescreen tv.

Thanks in advance!

What is setted in CCE is not exactly the A/R . When you set it to 16:9, the encoder will turn on 16:9 flags in the mpeg stream in order to have the DVD standalone that switch automatically the TV set in 16:9 mode.
But the encoded image itself is the same with 4:3 or 16:9 set in CCE.

Yes it is. But even a "16:9" source is 4:3 ! In fact the complete words is "16:9 anamorphic" that is a 16:9 picture streched vertically to fit in a 4:3 frame.
You have to modify THE SCRIPT in order to produce a such "distorted" picture because by default they produce a 16:9 letterboxed picture.

I think I understand now. Thanks!

I'm using the ma script.

Okay, in the MA script just add "dest_anamorphic=true" in the gripcrop line. That's all.

very interesting! that explaination is better than in thousands threads about AR with confused, unclear and very long phrases with pictures. knowledge is this: arrow in the target, not long "blah, blah, blahs" with imprecise arguments!
