KVCD Template Color Distortion?

Ok I downloaded the following template

KVCDx2-CQ-704x480-_NTSCFilm_-2CD.mcf

The movie comes out excellent quality but when I burned a sample of the movie I was encoding and watched it the color was all messed up. But When I forwarded the picture to 2X the picture became clear, on normal it doesn't seem to play but when you fast forward the movie it works..can someone help me ???!

 :?:

Hey DivXerouS,

Have you downloaded one of the KVCDx2 samples, burned it, and tried it on your player?
This way you can check if the problem is your player, or something in the process you're doing while creating your mpeg file.

KVCD Template Color Distortion

I tried the other template that I downloaded and yes that one was a KVCD X2 one. The movie came out widescreen but the color of the movie was all messed up. It keeps coming out green with both the templates. I have a Classic DVD player that I got for 50 Dollars and it plays basically everything, except when I encode with the KVCD templates. Does that mean that my DVD player can't accept it or something ???

Help

OK I loaded in the template and screwed around with the settings. I changed the GOP Structure to standard (even though I don't know what that is ) after converting 3 minutes of the movie I burned it. Apparently the GOP Structure is not the problem. SOOOOO The next setting I am going to change is the VBR Buffer setting which is set to 48 so Im gonna change it to 0 Automatic. Hope it works. Will keep you posted on this.

DivXerouS,

My post said if you had downloaded the mpeg sample and burned it. Not the template.

Actually I have not because I have Dial up and it is going to take around an hour to download a sample. Im just gonna try around with the settings a little but more. Hope fully I will get it...

Also I changed the setting to Constant Bitrate and for that I put in 1603KB/s, because I am trying to make an NONStandard 60 Minute, 800MB file. This is what enhances the quality right ??? Just making sure ....

Changing The VBR Buffer settings didn't work either...The color is still messed up....Don't know what to do.... :?

If your DVD player won't play KVCD's, then you won't be able to play any kind of (X)VCD. I guess your player doesn't like variable bit rate.

I figured out the problem. The DVD player works fine and so does the template. The problem was with the Pixel setting. The AVI file was origanlly 720 X 368 but the template was encoding it 702 X 480. It apparently wasn't the right setting so I lowered it to 702 X 464, and guess what it worked. YAAAY !...

Now I was gonna ask. The higher the Bitrate the better the picture right, If I encode the movie at 1603Bits/s shouldn't it come out right ? but there are those stupid blocks again. I tried lowering the contrast of the movie because someone told me that and I guess I should lower it a little more, but I was wondering if I could make an 800MB Non Standard Mpeg 2 file instead of Mpeg 1 ???

:D
