Stuttering video on kdvd?

I've got the following problem. I encoded 2 movies with CCE 2.67 and authored it with dvdlab 1.31. I burnt it with nero 6.3.1. They play flawless in my computer with powerdvd.

But in the standalone it "freezes" at some scenes. The dvd freezes at the same scenes no matter what i do. The media I use is the same i've always used, and give no problem.

Both movies where 25 fps, and are divx sources. I converted using optimal avi v4 script and avisynth 2.5.3.

Can anybody help me with this?

If you ask me it sounds like a muxing problem :roll: .
Or maybe a SAP issue with the media in hands/recording speed?
I am no expert when it comes to DVDLab but I've heard there was a muxing problem with it.
Can you check for the latest DVDLab release which should be 1.4x?
The muxing problem seems to have been solved in that release...
Also is there a way to specify the vbv buffer in DVDLab?
If so try to keep it at 112KB.
Others like Phil or Incredible, more used to DVDLab and more experienced in the video encoding issues, may
have more options.

It can be also a matter on min video bitrate used (like in KVCD in fact).
Or perhaps the resolution used if you did not use standard ones (704/720 * 480/576)

I use min 300, and never had any prob with it. The resolution is 720x576.

In tmpgenc you can set the vbv buffer size. Can you also specify that in
cce?

About the muxing prob with dvdlab 1.31, i didn't know that!
Should that be over with the dvdlab PRO release? (the beta's too?)

Coming to think of it...I don't actually recall but there must be ;-)
Well I've been told that DVDLab 1.4b2 and DVDLab PRO b10 both received recent muxing engine changes in order
to stop some problems. So you should be fine with any of these.
As I said this is all based on 3rd party info since I really don't use DVDLab.
At least not yet :)

I had similar problems with DVDLab 1.3.1 ... stuttering movies.

Tried TMPGEnc DVD Author and it seems to be much better - yet still (very) incidental stuttering.

(Added the script to avoid to low bitrates - which didn't solve all problems, but many)

Still looking for the best DVD authoring tool ...

I used to have stuttering dvds.Now I always create an image first , to be on the safe side.

No "image first" step needed. I never had Problems when directly buring DVD content to a DVD-r.

You Problem might be NERO! as its known (and especially Version6!) to build non 100% specs. compilant DVDs! If some PLayers do accept those generated DVDs then its cause of the Player, means luck.

I ALWAYS use the burning engine of TmpgEnc DVD author (also for my Maestro or DVDlab Pro compiled DVD folders) and I never had problems.

Setting 300min in CCE is NO garant that the min bitrate really keeps at 300min! As found out in the avcodec CCE comparison. I once did set min=500 and got drops till 120kbit in CCE!! And as ALL my CCE Streams do playback fawelessly that wont be a problem.
If you want a guaranteed min bitrate (if realy needed) at what you have set then use NuEnc or Padding at TmpgEnc.

Whats your max Bitrate??

For me I had to make an image for dvd's that I had made of captured movies from a satilite dish..Otherwise it would stutter during certain scenes.Who knows..maybe its some program I have in my computer that interferes with the burning process..My audio disks would also make a ''glitch' sound now and again. Making an image first seemed to solve all my problems...so i do it out of habit.
