KVCD: What about a movie compatibility table?
hey, how about a movie-table where the members of this forum can write their settings and templates for the most important movies (e.g. lotr, ocean's eleven,...)? everybody could spare MUCH encoding time if he knew the optimal settings...

sounds like a good idea, I see good samples on this board and have wondered how they get such clear samples,.

well, I've decided to use svcd from now on  downloaded cinema craft encoder and coded my files with 5x multipass mpeg2 and the results were VERY good. in the future i may use kvcd templates or gops for my svcds, but i won't make kvcds any more. the samples on this page are very good, but i'm living in austria and therefore haven't got an ntsc dvd-player. movies encoded with kvcd pal are somewhat larger in filesize than kvcd.

Try encoding again with TMPEG and any KVCD of your choice, but use this method: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1294 Now compare your quality with the same file sizes against CCE. -kwag |
8O if that really works, you could propose kvcd to the dvd2svcd inventor - it's a lot o work doing this by hand and then calculating, and making the file and demux and remux and cut and add subtitles and chapters and all... personally i will use dvd2svcd from now on. have you tried cce? it's really amazing! lotr on 2 cds with quite good quality. ain't there a possibility to use cce for kvcd? long gops and other matrices...

Hi new_bee,
CCE can't use long GOP's, but you can use KVCD's Q. Matrix by patching it on CCE. I don't know how the Q. Matrix will work on CCE, because it was designed and tested on TMPEG. If it does work, the quality should be similar to TMPEG's , but the file size will be larger with CCE because of the shorter GOP.s. -kwag |
