VirtualDub: Use Filters in Vdub or TMPGEnc?

I capture mainly from VHS Pal sources using virtualdub and convert to kvcd using TMPGEnc. I was wondering do most people here use the filters in virtualdub (specifically noise reduction and de-interlace) or do you use the filters provided by TMPGEnc instead.

Hi Cruiser,

Try some of the AviSynth filters. Like Convolution3D, TemporalSmoother, etc. You can use them without the need to use Vdub.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Does AviSynth work with mjpeg avi captures as I cant seem to get it to recognise the video source?

8O Good question. That I don't know, because I don't have any MJPeg codecs installed, or any MJPeg sources. Maybe someone else can answer this one :?:

It works.

Capture in YUY not RGB (else you may need to convert in the script).

Search a AVISynth pugin called "mjpegcorrector" it is supposed to improve color fidelity.
