How to put four AVI movies on DVD-R?
Hi Men, I have 4 movies in format avi and i want to convert them to (kvcd or ksvcd) (PAL) in order to put them in one DVD-R with authoring them.
I use V4 script of Dialhot, I think 480x576(SKVCD), but I want to know your opinions please since you are professionals and thanks what resolution should i use: 352x576 (kvcd) 352x576 (KSVCD) 480x576 (KVCD) 480x576 (KSVCD) 528x576 (MPEG1) 528x576 (MPEG2) Or 352x576 (KDVD). Thanks Very much |
You got "4 movies" .... thats all of information you provide!
These are too few infos to giva recommandation. Also even if we would know the length of each movie, we dont know anything about the complexibility of each movie. So it could be 480x576, 352x576, 704x576 .... also how many audiostreams does contain each avi? Second, I do hope youre aware that 480x576 is NOT a DVD Standard! Maybe you got luck and your Player supports that, .. in such a case use DVDlab as it accepts 480x576 for DVDauthoring. |
Doesn't DIKO support multiple movies per disc? That would be the easiest way, it also includes a resolution optimizer IIRC.

Sorry, the duration of the 4 movies, are 7h20min.
one audio stream So since the 480x576 is not a standard, maybe i use 352x576 (KDVD). In your opinion I could try between 352x576(KDVD) and 352x576(KVCD)? Thanks |

Also KDVD is strictly DVD compilant as it uses a gop length of 15 at PAL and 18 at NTSC! So you also could here test if your DVDplayer supports the KVCD GOP lengths, means 24/25. So I would first test a 480x576 at 25 GOP length Stream (KsVCD) by authoring it in DVDlab and do a testplayback on your standalone Player. If that doesnt work, the 352x576 KDVD would be the next choice IMHO .... but all these remarks do depend of the complexibility in these 7hours and so the resulting Q/CQ |
Thank you very much Incredible

Hi Men.
First i want to convert 4 avi files to kvcd (352x288) using v4 script Dialhot, and then to author them in one DVD-R. I have made 4 kvcd with the max 2600 and my question is: Can I put the max bitrate until 4000 and the min 1000?? My other question, i usually used the second line of blockbuster because i have often used 352x288 for one cd-r, but as now i will put them in a dvd-r, can i delete the second line of blockbuster without problem because i have enough bitrate? Thanks |
You can raise the max but there is no need to raise the min. BTW, 1000 is too much according to me.
The second blockbuster line is necessary according to the content of your movie and nothign else. Some sources give better result with it, others no. There is no necessity to use it anytime (but that does not hurt) and there is no reason to stop using it only because you go on KDVD now. |
Thank you very much Dialhot
