i know all about ksvcd but now i got a DVD-RW and im moving to kdvd, how many hours of movie u put on 1 DVD-R for good quality ?

Hi cyron,

4 hours near perfect quality, ~5 hours if the movies are slow (drama, etc.) and about 6 hours max with some loss of quality.
That's all at 704x480(576).

so if ill take all 3 matrix movies and put it on 1 dvd-r the quality will be low ?

Hi cyron,

Make a little test.
Add the total time for all three movies, enter that into CalcuMatic, and that will give you the average bitrate.
Then, encode a small test clip from one of the movies, at the given average bitrate, and you'll get an idea of how the final encode will look :)

i did a test, i took 3 movies, the total time is 330min, i started encoding the movie. the sample file created by cq-matic was 36sec and took 21mb, so the final movie file will be 3.6gb, the CQ was 89.77, what did i do wrong ?

Run CQMatic again, in "Prediction Only" mode
When it's done, double click anywhere on the log window. That will copy the log to the clipboard, and then you can paste it here.

did another test, it seems right now, guess i did something wrong the 1st time, the movie is 1.3gb so its ok.

i notice that the kdvd conversion took 9h to complete while the svcd only took 2.5-3.5h.

Question following the thread...

... and what about fitting movies encoded anamorph?.

I'm finding it difficult to fit StarWars episodes V and VI (yesssss 8) ) in 3382726 Kb if encode in anamorph. They are about 250 min. If 704x576 non-anamorph, there will be no problem (Q far below 30).

I'm playing with scripts, and I'll have to take the samples a look (it's a pity that I just have a 21 inch TV set right know, for visual comparisons :cry: ) and decide if encode anamorph (what I desire), or non-anamorph and better Q...

I can use 704x576 for KDVD changing 720 for 704 in KDVD Full template for TMPGEnc?

And then, in the script AvisSynth:

Hi Maurus,

352x240(288), 352x480(576), 704x480(576) and 720x480(576) are all DVD compliant resolutions.

Your TV might cut something off on the sides.
Make a small test first.

Your says this for overscan=2 or for 704? It's better overscan=1?
