Re-Encoding 14.985fps source ?

Recently, when I look at File Information using VirtualDub I'm seeing quite a few .AVI files which state that the specs are 352x240, 14.985 fps.

How do I treat that in TMPGenc? Do I encode it like it is 29.97 or do I have to do any special tweaking before I encode?

Thanks

Trailers or animes very often fdo come in 15fps, so theres no way to go around a conversion to 29.97 interlaced. A simple speedup will result in a too fast movie and sound.

Avisource("xxxx.avi")
Bob(0,0)
ConvertFPS(29.97*2)
separatefields().selectevery(4,0,3).weave()

This is a full-length film, not an anime or trailer.
When I go to TMPGenc, Settings, Video Tab, it says:
14.985fps (internally 29.97 fps)

Then, if I hover the mouse over the field I get a box that says:

Sets MPEG-Video framerate
The frame rate [15fps (internally 30fps)] does not exist in MPEG standard, thus quality gets lower because this frame rate is made provisionally.

But if go ahead and change the rate to 29.97 and encode, it seems to play back at the proper speed. The quality is not terrific, and the source was a DVD, so I'm not sure what is wrong.

I'm using the KVCD-CQ-352x240-_NTSCFilm_-PLUS.mcf template, with a CQ value of 89.73 as predicted by CQMatic.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Any ideas? Thanks

Hi Chula :)
Either they are AVIs or they are VOBs from DVDs.
Now make up your mind ;-)
Otherwise, Incredible just gave you a perfectly good script for AVI sources but NOT for DVD sources.
Cheers

Which app do I use with the script provided?

Thanks.

Whats that kind of movie??? A Hollywood movie or what?

If its NOT an anmine or NOT a trailer ... what youre dealing with? Even not a capture results in approx. 15fps!
