Bitrates: Any chance to have a Quenc version of CQMatic?
...to have a Quenc (and/or HC) verion(s) ?
|
HI patchworks,
I voted yes, I would love to see a version of CQMatic for HC for making Mpeg 2 movies using CQ Mode. I don't think it is necessary for QuEnc though as QuEnc uses VBR and I usually use CalcuMatic for QuEnc, I simply enter my .d2v file, add the audio bitrate value and the DVD mux overhead and then hit "Calculate" and then use the value in the Average Bitrate box to enter into QuEnc to get my needed value. Or perhaps im doing it wrong? One thing I would like it CalcuMatic would be a custom mux overhead. EDIT: Also if I want to do a 2 or 3 KDVD to one DVD I just enter the total of the movies and the audio bitrates of the movies and hit calculate for Average bitrate I then enter this into QuEnc. |
I voted yes for a Nuenc's version
cheers |
Nuenc's is almost identical to QuEnc and if you use Calcumatic to work out your Average bitrate enter this into NuEnc and you should get your desired filesize. ;)

I voted for TMPGEnc, because it has passed the "test of time", and it's reliable and produces a predictable and compliant MPEG stream.
The other free encoders still have many rough edges. -kwag |
Zyphon nuenc runs into CQ mode and quenc doesn't. And we are talking about CQ encoders for a new (i hope) cqmatic release ... So Quenc is defintively out of topic ...
Kwag i still use nuenc because it's free, it produces very nice mpeg2 files and very quikly than tmpgenc 8O as Tmpgenc is still very slow. We all know problems with libavcodec and maximum bitrate  To be sure to make a compliant file, i simply fix a max bitrate of 8000 kbps ... Cheers  |

You are right of course. :D |
QuEnc works with a CQ mode, too.

I never saw CQ mode in QuEnc. Which version has CQ Mode? I have version 0.59 beta 4 and I can't find a CQ Mode. Do you just untick the 'Use VBR' and then it reverts to CQ CBR? |
If you set a value lower then 32kbps for the average Bitrate then you encode in CQ mode. You can see this because there is written CQ for average. I have this version, too, so you can use this and it should work.
Tell me if it works. :) |
Thanks for the tip EM. :)
So if I use 31kbps then I should be o.k for CQ encoding, great. :) The thing that puzzles me is why doesn't Nic just include a CQ mode in QuEnc I think it would be a good idea so we could have prediction based encoding with this tool. I take it I could also use Inc's Slicer routine with this method? Thanks for answering all my stupid questions EM, I appreciate it. :D |
